Barcelona ruthless as Levante edge Madrid: Liga F Week 6 Round-Up

Barcelona made a big statement in defending the title when they demolished visiting newcomers Granada CF 6-1 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Saturday evening. 

The hosts opened the floodgates as early as the sixth minute through midfielder Patri Guijarro. The hosts doubled their lead a minute before the half-hour mark through defender Ona Batlle after she was teed up by the returning forward Salma Paralluelo. 

Paralluelo registered her name on the scoresheet a minute before the hour mark to make it 3-0 to the hosts. 

The hosts made a triple substitution after 65 minutes bringing on forward Mariona Caldentey and midfielders Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí for forward Bruna Vilamala, defender Martina Fernández Vila and midfielder Clàudia Pina respectively.

Substitute Caldentey made it 4-0 in just a minute of coming on after she linked up with Guijarro. 

The visitors made a change after 78 minutes, taking off former Barcelona player midfielder Ornella María Vignola Cabot for forward Laura Pérez Martín. 

However, the hosts increased their goal tally with 10 minutes left through forward Asisat Oshoala who converted a pass from substitute Bonmatí before she completed her brace two minutes later to make it 6-0 after being set up by Caldentey as Barcelona completed the rout. 

The visitors got a consolation goal three minutes into second half added-time through substitute Pérez Martín who was set up by fellow substitute forward Naima García. 

The win ensured that the hosts kept their 100% start intact, moving to 18 points having scored 20 goals in their first six matches. Granada, on the other hand, dropped to 15th on the log standings.

Meanwhile, Levante rallied against hosts Real Madrid to win 2-1 at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on Sunday evening. 

The visitors opened the scoring after 12 minutes through midfielder Paula Fernández off a pass from forward Gabi Nunes. 

The hosts got an equaliser five minutes into the second half from young forward Linda Caicedo who converted a cross from defender Olga Carmona. 

The killer goal came after 67 minutes when Nunes out jumped Real’s defence to head home midfielder Nataša Andonova’s corner kick. 

The win ensured that Levante maintained their unbeaten start to the season and moved to 12 points whilst Real Madrid remained on 15 points and three points behind log leaders Barcelona.

Two first half goals ensured a 2-0 victory for Atlético Madrid over hosts Sporting Huelva at the Ciudad Deportiva Decáno del Fútbol Español on Saturday afternoon. 

The visitors broke the deadlock after 31 minutes through former Villarreal forward Sheila Fuijarro who converted a pass from defender Andrea Medina. The visitors doubled their advantage in the first minute of added time in the first half through defender Cinta Rodríguez against her former paymasters after she was teed up by fellow defender Carmen Menayo. 

The win saw the visitors take their points tally to 13. The hosts, on the other hand, continued to sing the blues as they anchor the log standings.

Madrid CFF made it five wins in a row after edging visiting UDCA Tenerife 3-2 in an entertaining match at the Estadio Fernando Torres on Sunday afternoon. 

The hosts opened the scoring after 37 minutes through midfielder Aida Esteve who converted a pass from forward Luany before Zambian forward Racheal Kundananji doubled the advantage five minutes later off another pass from Luany. 

The visitors reduced the deficit a minute from the half-time break through defender Agustina Barroso after being fed by fellow defender Andrea Marrero. 

Substitute forward Esther Okoronkwo made her presence felt eight minutes after coming when she levelled the scores in the 85th minute off a pass from midfielder Natalia Ramos. 

The hosts produced a sucker punch in the 94th minute when defender Laura Domínguez restored her side’s lead after she converted a pass from defender Itziar Pinillos.

The win put the hosts on 15 points while Tenerife remained on nine points.

Real Betis came from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw against visiting Valencia at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis de Sol on Saturday afternoon. 

The visitors broke the deadlock after 27 minutes through forward Anita Marcos who poked home a cross from midfielder Estela Fernández’s freekick before midfielder Fiamma Benítez headed home a cross from forward Ascensión Martínez Salinas to  double her side’s advantage six minutes later. 

The hosts pulled a goal back two minutes from half-time through forward Carmen Álvarez who converted a cut back pass from defender Natalia Montilla Martínez. 

The hosts pulled level in the 64th minute through forward Carolina Férez who was teed up by forward Carla Armengol. 

The visitors were reduced to 10 players in the 79th minute when defender Pauleta was sent to the terraces after receiving her second yellow card in a space of five minutes. 

The draw moved Betis a point off the relegation zone whilst Valencia moved to eight points on the standings.

Hosts SD Eibar and Villarreal settled for a goalless draw at the Municipal de Ipurua on Saturday afternoon. 

The visitors were dealt a blow with two minutes left when defender Nerea Pérez looked like she pulled a muscle after making a tackle to thwart an Eibar attack in the 81st minute and was replaced by forward Vera Rico. 

The draw saw both teams getting tied on four points with Villarreal boasting of a superior goal difference.

Athletic Club came from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory over visiting Real Sociedad at the Lezama Facilities on Sunday afternoon. 

It was the visitors who struck first through their inspirational skipper and midfielder Nerea Eizagirre after 41 minutes before forward Ane Azkona levelled the scores four minutes later on the stroke of half time. 

Substitute forward Jone Amezaga ensured maximum points for her side when she struck in the 84th minute just two minutes after coming on for defender Naia Landaluze. 

The win put Athletic Club on nine points whilst Real Sociedad, on seven points, dropped to 10th position.

Sevilla ended their losing streak with a 2-1 victory over hosts Levante Las Planas at the Camp Municipal Les Planes on Sunday afternoon. 

The visitors came from behind to seal the points having gone behind in the 17th minute when the hosts opened the scoring through midfielder Anissa Lahmari who was set up by forward Irina Uribe. 

The visitors pulled level on 36 minutes through midfielder Eva Llamas who was teed up by midfielder Klára Cahynová before they scored a sucker punch in the 91st minute through forward Inma Gabarro after being set up by substitute midfielder Pamela González. 

The win for Sevilla put them on six points whilst Las Planas remained on nine points.
