Barcelona set to wrap it up as Real clash with Madrid CFF: Liga F Week 27 Preview

Barcelona have a chance to wrap up the league title this weekend when they host Sporting Huelva at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Sunday afternoon.

The Blaugranes are aiming to end the season with a 100% run in which they have scored 105 goals and conceded just five in 25 matches.

They are placing their hopes on their potent strikeforce that has instilled fear in opposition defences, led by forward Asisat Oshoala with 19 goals and the upcoming forward Salma Paralluelo who has shown much promise in her first season at the Cules. The hosts also boast of a mean defence well marshalled by defender Mapi León and roving left back Fridolina Rolfö.

They will, however, be missing the services of right back Lucy Bronze who underwent an arthroscopy on her knee on Wednesday.

Sporting Huelva, on the other hand, will be hoping that forward Berglind Rós Ágústsdóttir will be at her best to lead them to victory.

A win will ensure title defence for the hosts whilst a defeat will make the visitors’ fight for survival difficult.

The teams have met 25 times with Barcelona winning 21, losing two and drawing two.

Meanwhile, a Madrid derby looms between second-placed Real Madrid and fifth-placed Madrid CFF at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on Sunday evening.

The match has bragging rights at stake with visiting Madrid CFF looking to continue with their unbeaten run of their last five matches whilst Real will be aiming to reduce the gap between them and log leaders Barcelona.

The hosts will be hoping that player of the moment midfielder Caroline Weir, who is on 17 goals and 10 assists this season, will be at her best. The visitors, on the other hand, will be putting their hopes in forward Racheal Kundananji who has been clinical in front of goal with 18 goals in her debut season at the club.

The teams have met eight times with Real winning six, losing one and drawing one.

Third-placed Levante make a long trip to rejuvenated UDG Tenerife on Saturday afternoon at the Estadio La Palmera.

Both teams are coming from defeats, with Levante losing 2-1 to Atlético Madrid and Tenerife losing 2-0 to Real Betis last weekend.

Levante will be aiming for a win to safeguard their top three hopes as they lead fourth-placed Atlético by seven points whilst Tenerife will be looking forward to another set of maximum points as they push to finish as high as they can.

The hosts will be hoping that forward Jassina Blom will rediscover her goalscoring touch whilst the visitors will be hoping Liga F’s top goalscorer Alba Redondo will be at her best to steer them to victory.

The teams have met 18 times with Levante winning 12, losing four and drawing two.

Real Betis will be looking to build on their 2-0 victory over UDG Tenerife last weekend when they host fourth-placed Atlético Madrid at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis de Sol on Sunday afternoon.

Betsis will be hoping that midfielders Rosa Márquez, Grace Asantewaa and forward Laurina are at their best to lead them to victory whilst the visitors will be banking on forward Rasheedat Ajibade for goals.

Atlético will be buoyed by their 2-1 victory over third-placed Levante last weekend in their bid for a top three finish as they are only seven points behind Levante.

A win will take Betis to 26 points.

The teams have met 13 times with Atlético winning 10 and drawing three.

Villarreal host Real Sociedad at the Ciudad Deportiva on Sunday afternoon.

Villarreal find themselves in a precarious position having gone five games without a win and are only two points above the relegation zone with just four games left to play.

Forward Sheila Guijarro has been the shining light for the hosts whilst Sociedad will be hoping midfielder Nerea Eizagirre who is leading the Liga F’s assists chart will be at her usual best to lead the team to their second victory in a row.

A win for the hosts will put them on 23 points whilst the visitors may go to sixth on the log standings with a win.

The teams have met four times with Real Sociedad winning all the matches.

Relegation-threatened Levante Las Planas host Athletic Club at the Camp Municipal Les Planes on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors will be looking to make it three wins in a row being almost certain of surviving relegation now whilst the hosts have gone five games without a win and a loss will take them to four consecutive defeats.

Being just two points above the relegation zone, Las Planas are aware of the danger looming if they fail to collect any points.

The hosts will be hoping that young forward Irina Uribe will be at her best as she has been scoring goals for them.

The teams have met five times with Athletic Club winning all the matches.

Valencia, who have gone on a five-game losing streak, will be looking to bounce back when they host bottom-placed Alavés at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors will be buoyed by their narrow 1-0 win over Levante Las Planas last weekend in their quest for survival whilst Valencia will be fighting to finish in a respectable position as they are safe from relegation.

Alavés will be hoping that Sanadri, who scored their solitary goal last weekend, continues from where she left whilst Valencia will be hoping that Marta Carro comes out of her shell and leads the team to victory.

A win for the hosts will take them to 36 points whilst a win for the visitors will take them to 21 points and temporarily out of relegation zone with three matches left to play.

The teams have met three times with Alavés winning two and Valencia winning one.

Sevilla will be looking to continue with their unbeaten streak when they visit Campo de Fútbol José María Soriano Muñoz for a clash with Alhama CF ElPozo on Friday night.

Sevilla will be motivated by the fact that a win will potentially take them to sixth if Tenerife lose their match elsewhere whilst Alhama will be looking to utilise home advantage and collect maximum points to boost their survival chances.

A win for Alhama will take them to 21 points whilst a win for Sevilla will take them to 38 points.

The teams have met once with Sevilla winning the match 2-0 at their home ground.
