D1 Arkema Matchday 10 Preview

Olympique Lyonnais manager Sonia Bompastor will likely be looking to select an unchanged first XI for the log-leaders’ match at The Groupama OL Training Center against top four hopefuls Fleury 91 on Sunday.

Having come thus far without tasting defeat, Lyon will be eager to continue on that streak as they look to dethrone reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.

With top markswomen Melvine Mallard and Catarina Macario, boasting an impressive seven goals apiece so far this season and enjoying some stellar form going into this match, the free-scoring pacesetters will likely be having their tails up.

Fleury 91, on the other hand, have been enjoying a fine run of form which has seen them occupy fourth place for the greater part of this season.

Polish forward Nikola Karczewska, with five goals in this campaign, will be buoyed by a quickfire brace scored against Guingamp on D1 Arkema Matchday nine.

Having not earned a victory against Lyon dating back to November 2017, the Fabrice Abriel coached side will be hoping for a change in fortunes.

Montpellier vs Paris FC

To kickstart D1 Arkema Matchday 10, third-placed Paris FC travel to Stade Jules Rimet for a tie against fifth-placed Montpellier on Friday.

Having dominated Dijon with a 2-0 victory on matchday nine, Sandrine Soubeyrand will be hoping to lead the charges to another victory so as to keep hold of third spot.

Paris’ best scorer Clara Mateo is on a rich vein of form having amassed six goals so far this season.

On the other hand, Montpellier have been inconsistent this campaign with six points from a possible 18 in their previous six home outings.

German import Léna Petermann, who plays center striker, has been the best player for Yannick Chandioux’s side with five goals in nine league fixtures this season and added to her tally with the strike that made the difference against Bordeoux in the previous fixture.

Issy FF vs Paris Saint-Germain

Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain are on the road to Stade Gabriel Voisin for a match-up against struggling Issy FF on Saturday.

With five victories from their previous six D1 Arkema fixtures, the Didier Ollé-Nicolle coached outfit will be having a spring in their step as they look to keep the pressure on fellow title contenders and league leaders Lyon.

The division’s leading goal scorer Marie-Antoinette Katoto will be eager get back amongst the goals and add to the eight scored so far, having failed to register a goal in the 7-0 drabbing of Stade Reims on matchday nine.

Issy FF, on the other hand, are finding the going tough in the league and will be more on a damage-control mission when they clash with the defending champions.

Smarting from a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Lyon, Camillo Vaz will be eager to quickly address the backline which has been leaking goals like sieve. The Célya Barclais marshalled backline need to be at its best if they entertain hopes of stopping the free-scoring PSG frontline.

Bordeaux vs Dijon

A mid-table clash pitting sixth placed Bordeoux up against seventh ranked Dijon beckons as both sides look to remain within reach of a respectable finish come end of season.

Bordeaux are coming from a 1-0 defeat to Montpellier while Dijon are coming from a 2-0 defeat to Paris FC and both teams will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways.

Netherlands import Katja Snoeijs, on a season tally of five goals, will be hoping to return amongst the goals and lead the Bordeaux from the front.

On the other hand, Dijon’s Nigerian forward Desire Oparanozie will be hoping for improved goal involvements and add to the three goals scored already this season.

Stade Reims vs Soyaux Chantele

Saturday’s early kick-off sees Stade Reims welcome ninth-placed and fellow strugglers Soyaux Chantele.

Blunt in the attacking third and uninspiring at the back, Amandine Miquel’s side will be eager to impress against the Dragan Cvetković coached outfit.

Forward Kessya Bussy’s five goals this season will likely be enough to boost the hosts’ hopes.

On the other hand, Soyaux Chantele have some degree of positivity after beating Saint-Etienne 2-1 in their match just before the international break.

Forward Laura Bourgouin has arguably been Dragan Cvetković’s best performer with two goals and will be looking to get enough assistance from midfielder Anissa Lahmari who also scored in the 2-1 victory over Saint Etienne.

Guingamp vs St Ettiene

Relegation-threatened Saint-Etienne make a trip to 10th placed Guingamp in a match where both sides will be looking to navigate their way out of the drop zone.

With Guingamp coming from a 6-2 defeat to Fleury 91 and Saint-Etienne coming from a 2-1 defeat to Soyaux Chantele, both teams have a lot of ground to cover if they entertain hopes of surviving the dreaded chop.
