D1 Arkema Matchday 11 Preview
Olympique Lyonnais will be looking to extend their unbeaten run when they make a trip to the capital to play Paris FC at Estadio Charléty on Sunday.
Buoyed by a 5-0 victory over Benfica in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Thursday, the league leaders will be looking to claim the sculp of the Paris-based side and with a clean bill of health, Sonia Bompastor will be looking to name an unchanged side for this fixture.
In-form forward Ada Hegerberg, with four goals from the last three league games, is eager to continue with a rich vein of form she has been enjoying following an indifferent start to the campaign. The Norwegian also scored a brace in their UEFA Champions League win over Benfica.
The visitors defense, well-marshalled by a miserly Kadeisha Buchanan, will be out to cement their position as the division’s best defense having conceded a paltry three goals this campaign.
The hosts, on the other hand, look to have turned a corner to recover from a demoralizing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bordeaux on matchday eight and are expected not to hand Lyon a free ride having recorded a 2-0 victory and a nil-all draw against Dijon and Montpellier respectively going into this match.
Forward Clara Mateo, with six goals this season, will be hoping to quickly regain some fire-power in front of goal having gone for two games on the bounce without a goal.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Bordeaux
Reigning champions Paris Saint Germain host sixth-placed Bordeaux in what seems to be a mouth-watering encounter at Stade Jean-Bouin on Sunday.
Having managed to dust themselves off and restored momentum after a 6-1 humbling at the hands of pacesetters Lyon with an impressive 7-0 win against Stade Reims and 3-0 win over Issy FF on the trot, the Parisians will be hoping to bag maximum points.
Attacking midfielder Léa Khelifi, with three goals in the last two matches, will be eager to build from last week’s game in which she bagged a brace. Marie Antoinette-Katoto, the division’s top scorer with eight goals, is poised to lead the line for Didier Ollé-Nicolle’s troops.
Bordeaux, on the other hand, must dust themselves off ahead of a visit by PSG and restore momentum as they look keep top four hopes intact and build confidence after a difficult past two games from which they have managed just a point from a possible six.
Centre forward Mellissa Gomes will be hoping to continue with her goalscoring exploits which have seen the forward record four goals this season.
Fleury 91 vs Issy FF
Fabrice Abriel’s Fleury 91 play host to struggling Issy FF on Sunday hoping to rebuild confidence after at the back of a 4-0 thumping against Lyon.
Issy FF have their work cut out as they look to contain forward Nikola Karczewska who has been heavily involved amongst the goals for fourth placed Fleury 91 with five goals this season.
Bottom-placed Issy FF are winless in five matches and are in danger of relegation.
A.S.J Soyaux Charente vs Montpellier
Winless against Montpellier in 13 consecutive matches going into this match, the Dragan Cvetković coached side will turn to forward Laura Bourgouin to provide the goals to push them up the standings.
The visitors, on the other hand, have been on a decent run of claiming 10 out of a possible 15 points from their last five fixtures.
Forward Léna Petermann has been outstanding for Yannick Chandioux’s side with five goals in 10 league fixtures which has led to Montpellier occupying fifth position on the standings.
Saint-Etienne vs Stade De Reims
Occupying 11th place on the standings and winless in five matches, Saint-Etienne welcome seventh-placed Stade Reims hoping to end their barren spell and post a win which has eluded them in five attempts.
Stade Reims will be rubbing their hands in anticipation of a routine win and having an in-form Kessya Bussy in their ranks, with six goals this season, will add a spring in step for Amandine Miquel’s outfit.
FCO Dijon vs E.A Guingamp
Eighth-placed Dijon will be hoping be to steer clear of the relegation dog-fight as they host relegation threatened Guingamp on Sunday.
Coming from a one-all draw against Bordeaux; Christophe Forest’s side will be hoping Nigerian forward Desire Oparanozie continues her exploits in front of goal and add to her four-goal tally thus far this season.
