Girelli hat-trick inspires Sampdoria rout as Inter claim Milan derby: Serie A Femminile Week 15 Round Up
Five point gap remains between Juventus and Roma as pressure mounts at the apex of the Serie A; Inter complete season double over AC Milan with a huge derby victory
Cristiana Girelli scored a hat-trick as Juventus ran a 5-0 riot against Sampdoria at the Juventus Centre Vinovo on Sunday afternoon.
The 32-year-old opened the account for Juventus as early as the second minute when she collected a Lineth Beerensteyn rebound and struck a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the high centre of the goal before fellow forward Sofia Cantore doubled the hosts’ lead on 18 minutes with a right footed shot from outside the box into the bottom left corner with an assist from centre back Sara Gama.
Danish midfielder Sophie Junge Pedersen almost made it 3-0 nine minutes from half-time but her right footed shot from outside the box hit the right post.
Girelli returned to complete her brace to make it 3-0 10 minutes into the second half with a header from close range into the bottom left corner after pouncing on a Gama cross. Midfielder Arianna Caruso made it 4-0 seven minutes later with a left footed shot from the centre of the box into the bottom right corner with an assist from full back Lisa Boattin.
Girelli completed her hat-trick when she made it 5-0 just two minutes later with a right footed shot from the centre of the box into the bottom left corner to secure a crucial three points for Joe Montemurro’s side who are desperate to retain the Scudetto.
Girelli’s hattrick took her league goal tally for this term to 11 and is now second top scorer in the Serie A.
The Bianconere are second on the standings on 34 points from 10 wins and four draws in 15 ties whilst Sampdoria remain ninth on 10 points from three wins and a draw in the same number of contests.
Meanwhile, Inter completed back-to-back wins over cross-town rivals AC Milan with a 4-1 victory in the reverse Milan derby fixture away at the Centro Sportivo Peppino Vismara on Saturday afternoon.
Midfielder Irene Santi opened the scoring for Inter just two minutes into the first half with a left footed shot from close range into the bottom left corner before marauding on-loan Malawian forward Tabitha Chawinga doubled the visitors’ lead on 15 minutes with a left footed shot from the left side of the six-yard box to the bottom right corner.
Former Fiorentina forward Martina Piemonte pulled one back for Milan just after the half-hour mark with a right footed shot from outside the box to the bottom left corner off a Marta Mascarello assist and the hosts went for the break one goal behind.

Chawinga’s brace saw her goal tally increase to 12 for the term as she consolidated her place at the top of the Serie A goal charts.
Le Nerazurre are fourth on the standings on 29 points from eight wins and five draws in 15 outings whilst the Rossonere are fifth on 25 points from eight wins and a draw in the same number of encounters.
Log leaders AS Roma dispatched Sassuolo 5-0 at home on Sunday.
Forward Valentina Giacinti opened the account for the hosts just three minutes into the first half when she chested into the centre of the goal from the left side of the six-yard box after pouncing on Emilie Haavi’s rebound off the crossbar before the in-form Brazilian midfielder Andressa doubled the lead in the 26thminute with a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the centre of the goal after connecting with a Giacinti through ball.
Giacinti returned to complete her brace to make it 3-0 for Le Giallorosse on 31 minutes beating Sassuolo goalkeeper Isabella Kresche and striking a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the centre of the goal.

Giacinti’s brace took her goal tally for this term to nine and is now joint-third top scorer on the Serie A goal charts whilst Andressa’s brace took her season’s tally to seven.
Roma sit at the summit of the Serie A log on 39 points from 13 wins in 15 outings whilst Sassuolo slipped from seventh to eighth on 11 points from two wins and five draws in the same number of encounters.
A Zsanett Kaján brace was enough for Fiorentina to retain third place on the Serie A standings as the Florence side dispatched Pomigliano 2-0 at home on Saturday afternoon.
Kaján opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 20th minute after Pomigliano centre back Angela Passeri had fouled Fiorentina forward Michela Catena in the box. The Hungarian returned to complete her brace to make it 2-0 on 69 minutes with a left footed shot from the centre of the box into the bottom left corner after pouncing on a Catena pass.

A solitary strike by new American signing Mia Corbin against Como was enough to hand Parma their second win of the term at the Ennio Tardini stadium on Sunday afternoon.
