Levante run riot as Barcelona, Real record big wins: Liga F Week 14 Round Up
Levante ruthlessly dispatched hosts Villarreal 6-0 at the Ciudad Deportiva on Saturday afternoon.
Forward Alba Redondo opened the scoring after 16 minutes when she connected with a pass from fellow forward Érika González and slotted home before she completed her early brace two minutes later to take her season goal tally to 13.
González made it 3-0 just before the half hour mark when she converted a pass from Redondo to put her side in cruise mode.
The hosts made a double change at half-time in an attempt to mount a comeback bringing on midfielder María Llompart and forward Estefanía Lima for midfielders Cienfu and Fatou Kanteh respectively.
However, the visitors went on to make it 4-0 just nine minutes into the second half when forward Mayra Ramírez converted a pass from defender Paula Tomás. Midfielder Tatiana Pinto registered her name on the scoresheet in the 66th minute when she connected with a pass from Érika González and found the back of the net to make it 5-0 before González completed her brace to make it 6-0 with 16 minutes left to play after being set up by Ramírez.
Meanwhile, a Salma Paralluelo inspired Barcelona humbled visiting Sevilla 4-0 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Saturday evening.
The defending champions opened the scoring as early as the 11th minute through forward Asisat Oshoala who was set up by midfielder Clàudia Pina.
The hosts then had two efforts in quick succession crashing against the woodwork from forwards Ana-Maria Crnogorčević and Oshoala before Pina doubled their lead in the 34th minute with Oshoala providing the assist.
Pina had a chance to make it 3-0 before half-time but missed from the penalty spot after the hosts had been awarded a penalty one minute into added time of the first half.
Barcelona made a triple change in the 64th minute bringing on defender Marta Torrejón, forward Salma Paralluelo and midfielder Aitana Bonmatí for defender Lucy Bronze, Clàudia Pina and forward Mariona Caldentey respectively.
It took only six minutes for Paralluelo to register her name on the scoresheet making it 3-0 after converting a pass from midfielder Patri Guijarro before completing her brace to make it 4-0 with six minutes left to play after receiving a well weighted pass from Bonmatí.
Paralluelo took her season goal tally to seven.
The win saw the champions extend their 100% record into the second season in the domestic league. As for Sevilla, the defeat left them just two points above relegation zone.
Real Madrid turned the heat on Madrid CFF in a local derby winning 4-0 at the Estadio Fernando Torres on Sunday evening.
Real rushed into an early lead in the first minute through Esther González who headed the ball over the line after goalkeeper Paola Ulloa failed to decisively deal with her initial header.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 38th minute with González completing her brace after bundling home a rebound shot.
She took her goal tally to nine for the season.
Caroline Weir made it 3-0 for Real eight minutes into the second half with a thumping left-footed shot from 20 yards out.
Weir made her second goal contribution of the day when she provided an assist to midfielder Maite Oroz who made it 4-0 with just six minutes left to play.
The win took Real to 31 points whilst Madrid CFF were pegged further down losing the grip on their top three aspirations.
Alavés handed visiting Valencia a 4-1 defeat at the Ciudad Deportiva José Luis Compañón on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors drew first blood when they took a first minute lead through forward Fiamma Benitez after converting a pass from defender María Molina Molero.
Forward Sanadri drew the hosts level after 29 minutes before scoring again five minutes later to make it 2-1 in favour of the hosts.
The visitors made a double change at half time bringing on midfielders Linda Bakker and Pauleta for defenders Molero and Bea Beltrán to shore up the energy in the middle of the park.
However, defender Cristina Auñón doubled the hosts’ advantage three minutes from the restart making it 3-1 before fellow defender Alba Vergés made it 4-1 in the 68th minute after converting a Sanadri pass.
The win moved Alavés out of the relegation zone.
Real Sociedad survived an early scare from visiting Alhama CF ElPozo to register a 2-1 victory at the Instalaciones de Zubieta on Saturday evening.
The visitors took an early and surprise lead in the 16th minute when midfielder Marina Martí Serna converted midfielder Andrea Carid Cao’s flighted cross from the right flank.
Goalkeeper Laura Martínez Martínez gifted the hosts with a goal 10 minutes into the second half when she turned the ball into her own net and levelled the scores.
The hosts found a breakthrough with just eight minutes remaining when Manuela Vanegas gave them the lead having converted a pass from midfielder Nerea Eizagirre.
The win took Sociedad’s points tally to 22 whilst Alhama remained on six points and at the top bottom of the standings.
UDG Tenerife were held to a one-all draw by visiting Atlético Madrid at the Estadio La Palmera on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 28th minute through woman-of-the-moment Marta Cardona’s back-heeled finish after the hosts’ defence had failed to deal with a corner.
The hosts made a like for like change in the 59th minute when they introduced forward María José Pérez González for fellow forward Jassina Blom to add fresh legs upfront.
The hosts equalised in the 69th minute when substitute María José Pérez González bundled home a Raquel Peña perfectly weighted pass.
Athletic Club got the better of 10-women Levante Las Planas with a 2-0 win at the Instalaciones de Lezama Campo 1 on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts took the lead in the 62nd minute through forward Paula Arana, taking advantage of their numerical advantage a few minutes after Las Planas’ midfielder Nerea Gantxegi had received her second yellow. Midfielder Clara Pinedo doubled the hosts’ lead in the second minute of added time to put the match beyond the visitors.
The win moved Athletic Club to seventh position, six points above relegation zone whilst Levante Las Planas remained one point above the relegation zone.
Sporting Hueva continued with their fine run holding Real Betis to a nil-all draw at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis de Sol on Sunday afternoon.
The draw moved Huelva to eighth position whilst Real Betis remained only three points above relegation zone on 14 points.
