Real, Barcelona win as Levante, Atlético drop points: Liga F Week 3 Round-Up

Real Madrid continued with their fine run beating hosts UDG Tenerife 2-1 at the Campo de Fútbol de Adeje on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors opened the scoring after 34 minutes through Danish forward Signe Bruun who capitalised on a mistake by the hosts’ goalkeeper who failed to decisively deal with a corner kick.

The hosts made a triple change at the break bringing on forwards Rinsola Babajide, Esther Okoronkwo and midfielder Sandra Hernández for forwards Gift Monday, Jassina Blom and midfielder Claire Falknor respectively.

However, substitute Maite Oroz doubled the lead for the visitors with two minutes remaining having replaced midfielder Claudia Zornoza in the 72nd minute before Babajide reduced the arrears for the hosts with a thunderous left footed shot from outside the penalty area but it was a bit too late for a comeback.

The win for Real Madrid means they maintained a 100% start to the season whilst the hosts have dropped the points at home and remain on three points after their first two games.

Meanwhile, Madrid CFF went on a rampage demolishing hosts Sevilla 5-1 at the Ramón Cisneros Palacios on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors broke the deadlock after 27 minutes through their last season’s top goal scorer Racheal Kundananji who was set up by midfielder Itziar Pinillos. Midfielder Karen Araya doubled her side’s lead after 29 minutes when she pounced on a pass from fellow midfielder Aida Esteve.

Kundananji made it 3-0 in the fifth minute of first half added-time to complete her brace. The visitors reduced the deficit three minutes into the second half through midfielder Toni Payne who was set up by midfielder Klára Cahynová.

Pinillos made her second goal contribution of the match when she scored after 61 minutes to make it 4-1 to her side converting a pass from forward Lucía Pardo. Pardo was also involved in the fifth goal when she set up Kundananji who completed her hat-trick after 64 minutes to complete the rout.

The win put them back on track whilst Sevilla found themselves bottom of the standings with two defeats in a row.

Defending champions Barcelona continued with their title defence with a narrow 2-1 win over hosts Sporting Huelva at the Nuevo Colombino on Sunday evening.

The visitors, despite resting most of their key players, took the lead after 24 minutes through Clàudia Pina who converted a pass from midfielder Bruna Vilamala.

The hosts made a half-time change bringing on midfielder Anna Margraf for fellow midfielder Anna Sofia Ulrika Hagman.

Substitute midfielder Alexia Putellas had an opportunity to double her side’s lead after being awarded a penalty in the 79th minute but she missed.

Barcelona scored their second goal in the second minute of second half added-time through Patri Guijarro before substitute defender Laia Balleste pulled a goal back for Huelva in the 96th minute.

The win meant that the visitors maintained a 100% start to the new season whilst it was back to the drawing board for the hosts.

Levante and visitors Atlético Madrid played out to a one-all draw at the Ciudad Deportiva de Buñol - Campo 1 on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts opened the scoring after 37 minutes through midfielder Ángela Sosa to secure a lead going into half-time.

The visitors made a double change at half-time bringing on former Barcelona defender Ana-Maria Crnogorčević and forward Gabriela García for midfielders Sonia García Majarín and Vilde Bøe Risa respectively.

Crnogorčević made an instant impact after coming on levelling the scores one minute after the restart off a pass from forward Eva Navarro.

The draw moved both teams to four points after their first two matches of the season.

Visiting SD Eibar came out 2-1 victors in their clash with fellow debutants Granada CF at the Los Cármenes on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors broke the deadlock after 17 minutes through defender Carla Andrés Abad who was set up by forward Esperanza Pizzaro Pagalday.

The hosts made a double substitution at half-time bringing on defender Alba Pérez Manrique and forward Ornella María Vignola Cabot for defender Gaste and midfielder Andrea Gómez respectively.

However, the visitors doubled their lead 11 minutes into the second half through defender Eider Arana Mugueta before the hosts reduced their deficit nine minutes later through forward Laura Requena Sánchez after she was set-up by substitute Pérez Manrique.

Both teams are now on three points after two matches with zero goal difference each.

Valencia edged hosts Villarreal with a 2-1 victory at the Ciudad Deportiva on Saturday evening.

The visitors opened the scoring after 16 minutes through midfielder Fiamma Benítez who was set-up by forward Macarena Portales Nieto.

The hosts quickly responded 11 minutes later with Raquel Morcillo Aparacio levelling the scores to send the team deadlocked 1-1 at the half-time break.

The win saw the hosts collect their first set of points whilst Betis remained on three points.

Levante Las Planas extended their 100% start to the new season after beating visiting Athletic Club 2-1 at the Camp Municipal Les Planes on Sunday evening.

The hosts were the first to hit the back of the net after 16 minutes when forward Jessica Martínez headed home a headed pass from defender Morgane Nicoli before defender Naia Landaluze Marquínez levelled the scores six minutes later off a freekick from defender Nerea Nevado.

The hosts got a lifeline to restore their lead when they were awarded a penalty which was converted by forward Cristina Baudet Lucena on the hour mark.
