Real Madrid, Barcelona seek to maintain 100% start as Atlético Madrid aim to bounce back: Liga F Week 5 Preview

Real Madrid will look to continue with their rich vein of form when they host minnows Alavés at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on Sunday.

The Madrid side have not been defeated this season in both local and continental matches.

The hosts will be looking forward to their well-balanced squad which has contributed goals from all departments this season.

Alavés, on the other hand, started on a very low note having lost all their opening three matches and find themselves at the bottom of the log standings.

The teams have met twice. They shared the spoils in a one-all draw at this venue last season and Madrid won the reverse fixture 1-0 away.

Elsewhere, Barcelona make a trip to Instalaciones de Lezama Campo 1 to face Athletic Club on Sunday evening.

Athletic Club have had a bad start to the season losing two of their opening three matches and would not have wanted to meet the marauding Barcelona at this stage.

Barcelona have not dropped points so far this season and are looking forward to emulating last season’s feat where they won all the matches.

In-form forward Geyse will be looking to add to her three-goal tally so far this season as she pivots for the golden boot fight.

Athletic Club have lost 17 of their 24 meetings with Barcelona, winning only three and drawing the other four. The odds favour Barcelona to collect maximum points.

Atlético Madrid are looking to bounce back when they host struggling Sporting Huelva at the Estadio Wanda Atlético de Madrid Alcalá de Henares on Saturday afternoon.

The Madrid side had a minor setback a fortnight ago when they lost to Levante and will be looking to rebound from the defeat and put their campaign back on track.

On the other hand, Huelva have collected four points from a possible six in their last two matches and will be buoyed by those performances to cause an upset.

The hosts will be looking up to their top scorer forward Ludmila for goals.

The teams have met 25 times with Atlético Madrid winning 18, losing just three and drawing four.

A potentially explosive encounter is looming at the Instalaciones de Zubieta where Real Sociedad host UDG Tenerife on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams started badly this season and will seek to bounce back sooner.

The hosts have won one match and drew the other two of their first three this campaign whilst Tenerife have won one of the two which they have played. They have a game in hand against Real Madrid.

Real Sociedad will now fully concentrate on the domestic league after bowing out of the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL).

They have won just two of their last seven matches against Tenerife at this venue, drawing three and losing two.

Second-placed Levante make a trip to Camp Municipal Les Planes where they will clash with Levante Las Planas on Saturday afternoon.

Levante have won all their three opening matches whilst Las Planas started well winning two of their first three and losing one to Madrid CFF.

The visitors will be banking on forwards Alba Redondo and Mayra Ramirez for goals with the former leading the goal chats with three goals together with Barcelona’s Geyse and Atletico Madrid’s Ludmila. The hosts, on the other hand, will be looking up to forward Mari Paz Villas and midfielder Laura Martínez González for goals with the duo being on two goals each this campaign.

The teams have met four times and Levante have won three and lost one.

Villarreal host struggling Sevilla at the Ciudad Deportiva on Sunday afternoon.

Villarreal will be looking to make it two wins in a row after thumping Alaves just before the international break whilst Sevilla are yet to win a match this season and are hoping to collect maximum points away.

Forward Sheila Guijarro and midfielder Estefanía Lima hold the hopes for the hosts having two goals and two assists respectively this campaign.

Sevilla, on the other hand, will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s result at this venue when they came out 3-2 winners in a closely contested match.

The teams have met twice with each team winning once.

Madrid CFF host struggling Real Betis at the Estadio Municipal Nuevo Matapiñonera on Sunday evening.

The hosts will be aiming for their third win of the season and to bounce back from their 7-0 drubbing by Barcelona before the international break whilst Betis will be aiming to collect their first set of maximum points this season having collected just one point from a possible nine.

Midfielder Ángela Sosa has been the leading light for the visitors whilst Zambian forward Racheal Kundananji has two goals so far this season for the hosts.

The teams have met 10 times and five of those were at this venue with Madrid CFF winning just one, losing twice and drawing the other two.

Newly promoted Alhama CF ElPozo host Valencia at the Campo de Fútbol José María Soriano Muñoz on Sunday afternoon.

Alhama have been finding the going tough so far in Liga F and will be hoping that experienced forward Jade Boho will be at her best upfront. Boho has found the net twice so far in three matches.

Valencia, on the other hand, will be hoping to collect maximum points to avoid last season’s shenanigans where they ended the season one place above relegation.

The teams have not met before and each team will be looking to make history.
