A solitary Valentina Cernoia strike was enough for reigning champions Juventus to dismiss AS Roma 1-0 at the Juventus Training Centre Vinovo on Friday afternoon.

The 31-year-old Italian international fired from 20 yards wide on the left in the 53rd minute with an assist from full back Lisa Boattin to ensure that Roma failed to break the infamous ‘Vinovo Taboo’. The Vinovo taboo refers to the statistic that Roma have never won at Juventus home ground, the Juventus Training Centre Vinovo, in five years.

Le Giallorosse finished the match with 10 women after midfielder Manuela Giugliano was shown a second yellow in the 65th minute for a foul on Boattin.

Juventus finished Serie A week three fourth on the standings on seven points from two wins and one draw whilst Roma finished fifth, one point less than the Bianconere, from two wins in as many matches.

Elsewhere, AC Milan recorded their first win of the season with a comfortable 3-1 home victory over US Sassuolo at the Centro Sportivo Peppino Vismara stadium on Sunday.

Midfielder Valery Vigilucci opened the account for the hosts just two minutes into the first half with an assist from Linda Tuccri Cimini before Scotland international Christy Grimshaw made it 2-0 for Milan on 20 minutes with an assist from centre back Guðný Árnadóttir.

Sassuolo pulled one back through South Africa international Refiloe Jane just three minutes into the second half with an assist from Giada Pondini before Polish defender Małgorzata Mesjasz put the match to bed with an 81st minute strike to make it 3-1 for Milan.

Milan are now sixth on the standings on three points from one win in three outings whilst Sassuolo are eighth on zero points from three defeats in three matches.

Inter Milan cruised to their second win of the season with a 6-1 demolition of ASD Pomigliano at home on Saturday.

Italian forward Elisa Polli opened the scoring for Inter with a 15th minute strike with an assist from midfielder Irene Santi before she made it 2-0 just seven minutes later to complete her brace.

Midfielder Zhanna Ferrario blew the chance to pull one back for Pomigliano when she missed a penalty just before the stroke of half-time.

Polli completed her hattrick with a strike in the first minute of second half with an assist from Inter’s wild and savage Malawian forward Tabitha Chawinga, who is on loan from Chinese side Wuhan Jianghan University FC.

The visitors pulled one back in the 54thminute through Brazilian midfielder Verena Amorim Dias with an Alice Corelli assist before French midfielder Ghoutia Karchouni made it 4-1 with a strike in the 70th minute.

Cameroonian international Ajara Nchout Njoya made it 5-1 with a strike seven minutes from time with an assist from Marta Pandini before she completed her brace to make it 6-1 in the first minute of second half extra-time with an assist from Chawinga.

Inter finished Serie A third week third on the standings on seven points from two wins and one draw whilst Pomigliano finished ninth on zero points from three defeats.

Fiorentina made it three wins in a row when they edged Parma 2-1 at home on Sunday afternoon.

Hungarian Zsanett Kaján opened the scoring for Fiorentina from the penalty spot just three minutes into the first half and the match would go to half-time with the hosts in the lead.

Midfielder Melania Martinovic equalised for Parma with a strike on 54 minutes before Fiorentina retook the lead just three minutes later through midfielder Michela Catena.

Fiorentina finished Serie A week three on the apex of the table on nine points from three wins whilst Parma are seventh on three points from one win in the same number of matches.

Sampdoria maintained their 100% start to the season with a 1-0 win over Como away on Sunday.

Colombian international Yoreli Rincón Torres scored in the third minute of second half extra-time to give the visitors the all-important three points.

Sampdoria finished Serie A week three second on the standings on nine points but with an inferior goal difference to Fiorentina whilst Como sit at the bottom of the log on zero points from three defeats in as many matches.
