We are looking to repeat what we did last season. We wanted to take maximum points from these games and today we won pretty comfortably . . . - Alessandro Spugna
It was Giugliano’s turn to put her name on the scoresheet on the stroke of half-time, ensuring that the hosts take a 4-0 lead into the break.
Di Guglielmo completed her brace with a strike in the 66th minute to make it 5-0 before it was Kramžar’s turn to go on the scoresheet, making it 6-0 with a strike at the death of regulation time, assisted by former Atlético Madrid forward Bárbara Latorre, to secure their seventh full set of points of this term.
Spugna expressed satisfaction after the match saying that they had hoped to hit the ground running this term as they look to defend the Serie A title.
“We have made exactly the start we hoped for, because the league is a competition we want to win. We are looking to repeat what we did last season. We wanted to take maximum points from these games and today we won pretty comfortably, which shows we are in good shape”, said the 49-year-old Italian coach.
“It was a big win with some of your players in fine form. (Zara) Kramžar scored again after her hat-trick against Cesena and you have had two clean sheets in a week. They are all good signs. Definitely.
“. . . It is always nice not to concede.
“Zara got another runout after a great performance against Cesena and she got another goal. She is a very good player who needs time and opportunities.
“We did make a few mistakes today, but Tinja (Korpela) was able to keep them out, so it was all good.”
The win saw Roma remain at the summit of the Serie A standings on 21 points from seven wins in seven outings whilst Napoli remained at the bottom of the log with seven loses in seven encounters.
